Japan - Procession in Chuo-ku ward
Photos of a religious procession of shintoists carrying a portative shrine in a street of the Chuo-ku ward, Tokyo, Japan, were added under the reference #001-000127. August is the month of Matsuris -- the word for traditional japanese festivals --, and a lot of temples organize parades and processions in Tokyo's streets, often giving a high contrast between tradition and modernity.

Japanese Festivals
Fukagawa festival (Fukagawa Matsuri, around August 12-15) at the Tomioka Hachimangu shinto sanctuary, Monzen-Nakacho ward, Koto-ku, Tokyo, Japan (9 photos were added), including procession and taiko performance (Japanese traditional drums).

The crowd at Shimbashi station the day of the Tokyo Bay Firework Festival (Aug. 13), Minato Ward, Tokyo, Japan. Odaiba is one of the popular spots for the fireworks and the Yurikamome Line is very attended. Despite the multitude of people, organisation is very efficient... (4 photos were added under the reference 001-000127).

Paris - Simone de Beauvoir Footbridge








The Simone de Beauvoir footbridge under construction, Paris, France. Crossing the Seine river, the Simone-de-Beauvoir pedestrian bridge (aka "Passerelle Bercy Tolbiac") link the Bercy district to the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand (Francois Mitterrand Library). The steel bridge has been designed by Ferman architect Dietmar Feichtinger. Total length: 304 m, width: 12 m.
